# Low Libido: When Desire Changes, It’s Worth Looking Deeper
A decrease in sexual desire is extremely common—but that doesn’t mean you simply have to accept it.
Libido is influenced by much more than hormones. Changes in testosterone and estrogen can play an important role, but sleep, stress, medications, relationship factors, mood, exercise, and overall health can also affect sexual desire and satisfaction.
## Hormones Can Matter
For both men and women, changing hormone levels may contribute to changes in libido.
For women, declining estrogen and testosterone during and after menopause may be associated with changes in sexual desire, arousal, vaginal comfort and overall sexual well-being.
For men, lower testosterone can be associated with reduced sexual desire, along with changes in energy, mood and body composition.
That doesn’t mean that every libido problem is caused by low hormones—or that hormone therapy is appropriate for everyone.
The important first step is figuring out **what may be contributing to the change.**
## Don’t Ignore the Bigger Picture
Low libido can sometimes be an early clue that something else deserves attention.
Sleep deprivation, chronic stress, certain medications, metabolic health, thyroid function and other health factors may all influence how you feel.
That’s why simply treating one number on a laboratory report may not tell the whole story.
At Florida Anti-Aging Center, we take a comprehensive approach to hormone and wellness evaluation. We look at your symptoms, health history and appropriate laboratory testing to help determine what may be contributing to the change.
## You Don’t Have to Simply “Live With It”
Changes in libido can affect confidence, relationships and quality of life. If you’ve noticed a significant change in your desire, it is worth discussing rather than assuming it is simply part of aging.
**The goal isn’t simply to increase libido. It’s to help you feel better, healthier and more like yourself again.**
If low libido has become an issue, schedule a confidential consultation at Florida Anti-Aging Center to discuss your symptoms and possible causes.
