Depression – Does it need a prescription medication?

Conventional medicine is quick to reach for a prescription when it comes to mood disturbances, but it turns out that nutritional deficiencies can contribute to depression and anxiety disorders and that in many , correcting those deficiencies will not only improve mood naturally, but also assist with internal metabolism and health.

Many of the B vitamins improve mood. Of them methylated  b12 and high dose folic acid are amongst the most potent.  The life extension 2 per day multivitamin should have enough of most B vitamins to remedy any deficiencies.

Vitamin D, omega 3, and zinc in proper doses also have mood elevating effects.

Hormone optimization with testosterone, estradiol, and thyroid can all influence mood without prescription anti- depressants.

So if you are anxious or blue, consider fixing underlying deficiencies before you reach for that prescription medication.
