Health Benefits if dark chocolate

The cocoa bean is a super food which is high in antioxidants and powerful polyphenols like resveratrol and epicatechin. It also contains phenylethylamine (which improves mood) and theobromine (which has effects like caffeine.

It has been shown to improve mood, reduce inflammation, improve memory and immune function. Studies show it can reduce cardiovascular risk 39%!  It has also been shown to reduce insulin resistance, and lower blood pressure.

These benefits occur only with dark chocolate that is at least 70% dark chocolate. The health benefits are negated or reversed with milk chocolate that has large amount of counter balancing sugar and milk.
